6. New Business.

  1. Water well study - UVM (Peter). The three trustees met with the well study geology class from UVM. They gave them a tour of the control building, discussed the operation of our system, and served them a sample of the water from our system. There has been no feedback since that time.
  2. Discuss pump exercising (Sta.#1). Harold Sargent will call Marc to see about exercising the two pumps and to ask for an estimate of the cost.
  3. Other.

1. On March 11, 1995, at about 9:00 p.m., a National Guard fuel oil tanker went off the road near the intersection of Steam Mill Road and Dickinson Street in front of Browns River Middle School. Harold Sargent investigated the incident. There was less than 25 gallons of fuel oil spilled. An oil absorbent was used to collect the spilled oil and the contaminated soil was removed. The area has since been filled in and seeded. The Hazardous Materials Division of the Environmental Protection Agency was involved.

2. Harold Sargent brought to the board attention that he had encountered a customer parked in front of the gate to the control building and wells (No.2). He was walking his Golden Retriever dogs on the water district property. He spoke to the man and asked him not to park in front of the gate. Harold also noticed dog feces and asked the man to be sure to clean up after his dogs in the future. Mr. Merrill agreed to pick up the feces.

3. Harold Sargent picked up the litter around the control building.

4. Harold found an extra valve cover beside Hydrant #3. He put it in the storage building.
