President Harold Sargent called the meeting to order at 7:05p.m.

1. Review & Approval of Previous Minutes. The minutes were approved with the following corrections:

4.a. 56,00 should read 56,000.

5.a. To be added: Authorization was given to correct the problem.

7.b. I.W.S. changed to read I.S.O. (Insurance Services Office).

2. Review & Approval of Financial Statements. Tabled until the September meeting. 

3. Operator's Report

  1. Water use An average of 50,463 gallons of water were used per day.
  2. Two new recorders were ordered and have arrived. One was installed and the other kept for future use. Checks for accuracy are being done and the system calibrated.
  3. The fluoride saturator has not yet been serviced.
  4. The curb stops at Odlum's and J. Nadeau's and the shut-offs at Kingsbury's and the Fire Dept. are to be corrected on Thursday, August 4, 1994.
  5. The Board authorized Marc to raise Hydrants # 8,10,17,21, and 30 twelve inches at a cost not to exceed $3500.
  6. A reconditioned meter was installed at Zelazny's with the initial reading being 250 gals.
  7. Broken meters were repaired at Ann Howard's and Reid Fuhrmann's.
  8. A new #6 hydrant was installed across the road from the old one.

4. Customer Concerns.

a. Mill - A person from Greenmont Lumber called saying that they could smell diesel fuel in the water. Five checks were made throughout the district and no indication of diesel fuel was found in the smell or taste of the water.

5. Old Business

  1. a.  Bill from state-for water use, for $10.00. According to the state this bill was not for water use, but a fine for filing a state tax withholding form late. Since we do not withhold any state tax money, we should contact them and cancel that number to prevent such fines in the future.
  2. b.  Close-out of Wellhead Grant (7/29/94). Harold sent a letter requesting the final monies due to the District from the grant.
  3. c.  Receipt of W-M update of operator's manual. Harold has received a copy of the manual. Webster Martin
  4. d.  New hydrant at BRMS. A new standard hydrant has been installed in front of BRMS and is served by a new 8" D.I. main. It replaces an existing non-standard hydrant that was served by only a 4" line. Lameroux & Stone is the engineering firm. Marc has made numerous trips to the site during the installation.
  5. Sally & Bill Baldwin request? There has been no communication from the Baldwins. Harold will contact them and remind them of the need for 35 p.s.i. at their kitchen sink.
  6. Installation of backflow (dual checks) in the 20+ elevated homes. More customers will be contacted regarding the installation of these backflow valves.

6. New Business.

a. ISO Testing - Aug. 10, 9:00 a.m. Harold will meet with Mr. Shelley from ISO at the fire station to test hydrant flows. Notices should be placed in the Post Office and THE BURLINGTON FREE PRESS notifying District customers to expect roiled water throughout the day.

7. Other business.

  1. The next meeting will be Wednesday, September 7 at 7:00 p.m. This is moved from Monday due to the Labor Day holiday that week.
  2. The bills were reviewed and approved for payment.

8. Adjournment. The meeting was adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
