Minutes of August 5, 1991

The monthly board meeting of the Jericho-Underhill Water District was held on August 5, 1991 in the basement of the United Church of Underhill. The meeting was called to order by President David Damkot at 7:10 P.M. Those present were trustees Doug Keith and Harold Sargent, operator Marc Maheux and clerk/treasurer Evelyn Sargent.

The minutes of the previous meeting on July 1, 1991 were reviewed and accepted with one spelling correction in paragraph #5, second line, 'readon' should be 'reading'.

The financial reports of the District and the District's Project were reviewed and accepted.

Operator-, Marc Maheux reported that the following had been accomplished during the month of June. (a) The north pump was exercised at Pump House No. 1. (b) Hydrant maintenance has been completed with lubrication of the two Brown's River Middle School hydrants. We need to establish ownership of the hydrants at the Brown's River school. The school installed them on 4" service lines (too small). (c) An electrical storm knocked out the telemetry system and it was repaired. (d) The tank level indicator was repaired. (e) Marc brought Jericho's unused sodium fluoride from their old system to our new control building. (f) Marc has been checking the possibility of disconnecting the telemetry system from the old system. He proposed putting in a relay from the new pump house to the fire station. A motion was made by Harold Sargent to authorize Marc to see that this is implemented. The motion was passed, which will save the District money in telephone line fees. (g) He was called by Alpine Sprinkler, Inc. to do a flow test on the hydrant for the I.D. School - cost to be billed to Alpine. (h) Marc has done work for Peter Hartwick chlorinating his development hydrant in an attempt to get a bacteria-free water sample. (i) Marc had also met once with Hydro-Group and Webster-Martin to discuss the operation of the second well. Hydro-Group did extensive step testing of the test well to determine what flow rate sand is pumped, if at any (Stan Wilbur of Webster-Martin bad contacted Dave regarding the results of the tests). The board reviewed Aqua-Mag's test results. Extra copies will be made for each trustee and the operator. (j) Marc installed a new meter at Gerald Harnois on July 26th.

Under old business it was noted that the Subtrol Unit still has not been replaced. The Operations Manuals and copies of technical equipment are still due from Webster-Martin.

Under new business a letter to Webster-Martin from the Vermont Department of Health dated July 11, 1991 regarding bringing the 6 inch test well on line as an approved permanent source was reviewed. Harold mentioned that he and Peg would like to donate a used set of concrete steps to the District for the utility storage house down at Pump House #1. As Ken Mitchell will be doing other work at their house, Doug made a motion to hire Ken to deliver and place the steps down at the utility building. The motion was passed. Dave mentioned that he had a conversation with Ken Gaynor of Hydro-Group and reiterated to him (Gaynor) the Board's desire for an expeditious resolution and conclusion of the Project.

The bills were reviewed and signed.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:01 P.M.

Respectfully submitted: Evelyn O. Sargent, Clerk
